Free popcorn only costs $1!

Okay... well it USED to be free. Now it's $1, which is still too cheap to pass up!

I've been on the couch for three days - not a good way to live, so I pulled myself vertical and we went to the movies.

What else could we do on $1 popcorn day? (that was rhetorical) We saw "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood - really good movie (hmmm have I said that before about other movies?)! I don't want to give anything away in case you go see it. But, it was good!!! REALLY good!

Most of the late morning and afternoon, we watched the inauguration of our 44th president. What a wonderful, hopeful day for our country. Let's hope that President Obama is the right man - at the right time - for the right job.

Amen and amen!

Life is a party...

... but not today. :(

Today we were all supposed to go bowling to celebrate Scott's birthday, but the party was cancelled because Bryce was sick.

He seemed to have picked up an intestinal virus and he is REALLY sick! Scott said he's vomiting every 15 - 20 minutes - can't keep anything down. Such a worry when they're so little. I hope he feels better soon. I'm sure Scott, Crystal and Bryce are all exhausted. The nights can seem so long when your little one is sick.

Feel better, Bryce!

And the winner is...

... me!

Richard, Julie and Kate stopped tonight for a quick dinner on their way home from Kate's 2nd swimming lesson. Kate was FANTASTIC at her swimming lesson - pleasant - cooperative - willing to try - and no tears! No surprise, though. After all, she IS a perfect child!

When Richard took her coat off, she ran right into the kitchen to see me. I picked her up and held her and it was sweeeeeeeeet! She talks all the time -

"Cool down, Grammie. Needs to cool down" (about the chicken, steaming on the counter)

"Are you hungry" I asked her. She told me all about how hungry she was, what she had for lunch, and on and on and on.

"Dangerous!" She said, pointing to the switch for the garbage disposal. The last time they visited, her father told her that the switch was dangerous and she remembered. Brilliant, I tell you. Just brilliant!

And so it goes. She gives you information about anything and everything - and it makes me laugh. The things that she says that make me laugh EVERY time are...

"I'll get it." Followed immediately by "I got it." and then often repeated

Or when you ask her to do something... like... "Kate, would you hand that to Grammie?"

"Okay" she says to anything you ask her to do. It just cracks me up.

"Hey Kate. Close that door, please."

"Okay"

"Kate, do you want an m&m?"

"Okay."

"Kate... would you hand me that car, please?"

"Okay."

"Shake the car, Kate, and make it go."

"Okay."

And the "Okay" is always SO serious. She is precious!

Lunch in a refrigerator

Cold today. WAY cold! Michael and Richard and I went to Lone Star for lunch. I went in first and asked to sit in their patio room (which is USUALLY where I love to sit). The room is all windows and on a sunny day, the sun is delightful. But today? It was just rotten cold. There was an incredible draft on our legs (and mine were bare, of course) and the cold coming off the windows was no fun! I get the "bonehead of the day" award for that one. AND they were still nice to me! Imagine! They didn't even make me walk back to work. Life is good!

Yesterday Michael and I went to the movies to see "Yes Man". It was much better than we expected. It's probably a rental, but it was Tuesday - $1 popcorn and with the Regalators, soda was just $1 AND I still had movie money from Christmas, soooooo we HAD to go! I really liked the movie, but that's certainly not much of a litmus test. I DO love going to the movies!

Michael makes all this noise about what he's NOT going to see - what he won't waste his money on - what movies aren't worth his time. BUT... when I call and say - "I'm going to see "blah blah" movie. Do you want to go?" , he never says "no." :) I'm glad. Life is always more fun with a buddy!

Monday - all day!

It was a good weekend - time to rest - pizza at Richard and Julie's. AND the Eagles won!

We were up early yesterday to take Chelsea to the airport. Her trip was pleasantly uneventful. They had a slight delay in Cincinnati, but they were only about 25 minutes late getting into Indianapolis, so Chelsea didn't have a problem connecting with her ride. It was a really nice two weeks.

Back to work today - no fun. AND another 5 day week! Two in a row! One day at a time - or as Phil Roy says... "it's a day to day thing... just a day to day thing."

1 down (almost) and 4 to go.

No more schwimmie diapie????

Yesterday was Kate's first swimming lesson. Julie sent me a picture of Kate in her swim suit! Not TOO cute, or anything! I can just picture Julie and Richard "encouraging" from the sidelines. :)

Today is Friday and I've worked ALL 5 days this week. I know most people just consider that normal, but personally, I think I deserve some kind of reward for showing up every single day.

One more 5-day week and then we have off on the 19th (Martin Luther King Day) which makes for a 4-day week. I can do this again - one more time. I just know I can.

Chelsea has 2 more days at home and then -----------> back to school in Indiana. She seems so happy this trip. It's been a great visit. I think we've done most of the things she wanted to do - gone to her favorite spots - had a cheesesteak from Steak Works - dinner at Grotto's - she had lunch with her dad - and last night we had dinner at Brusters. The only thing we've missed is breakfast at Jimmy's. Maybe she and Michael (and Kelly) can do that this morning. Two weeks has just flown by.

Well, I actually have work to do so I'm out of here for now.

Have a great day!

She loves me! She said so!

By name and everything!

Michael and I went to Julie and Richard's to cheer the Eagles on and Kate spontaneously (no bribe... no threat... she just said it) gave me a hug and said... clear as can be.. "I love you, Grammie." She did! She said it! I'm amazed! I'm delighted! I knew the child was brilliant! This is just proof that she is also discerning in her opinion of people!

The last couple of times we went to Richard and Julie's, Kate screamed... ran in circles... jumped... as soon as she saw us. If I could have... I would have done the same thing! She is so precious!

Oh! And... the Eagles won!

Kate also knows the Eagles fight song. She and her dad sing it (and dance it) together...

Fly, Eagles, Fly! E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!!

Mental treasures... I can close my eyes and see them again.

Welcome back - me!

I'm baaaaaaack!

Lost time is lost forever. I'm sad about that. There have been so many wonderful things to write about in the last couple of months and the opportunities are gone. I guess the only thing to do is to start from here. So... I will.

I've been blocked from my blog - marked as a "spam blogger". Imagine! Me? A spam blogger? This is important stuff here! But... Blogspot in their infinite wisdom has now granted me access again.

So... I'm back! Life IS good!
